Grounded???

This post has nothing to do with cakes, cookies, brownies, cupcakes, or any goodies for that matter....  but I have had an overwhelming response to my Facebook post yesterday about my kids getting grounded.  So, I thought I would share what I posted.

The last week or so has been an extremely busy time for me, and my house really shows it!  My kids got themselves grounded for being late to school, so I thought I would use it to my advantage. I came up with a clever way to get them ungrounded.

This worked out better than I could have ever imagined!  My oldest son got right to work and earned his 500 points in one day.  The other two are getting closer and working hard too!  We had a nice dinner last night prepared by my son.  I found super nice letters on my pillow last night, and my house is looking SO much better!  I just never thought that so many other people would like my idea.  AMAZING!  If you would like to print a copy of this list just click HERE.   Hopefully this will work for you like it did for me!

Totally using this. My kids are 8 and 10, so may make it 300 points... but the idea is awesome!

Thank you!!

This is a great idea my kids would love to work off their grounding with a point system! Have you tried this on your kids? Did it work well?

A friend shared you Facebook pic. Too funny. I'll have to pin this to use in 10 yrs when my toddler hit puberty. And I personally love that loading the dishwasher is more points than sweeping and mopping a room. I have a hard time getting my husband to do it too.

I love this! Is it wrong to hope my kids get in trouble soon? lol

This is a great idea! I'm going to use this when my kids are old enough for grounding to be an option.

Has anyone done this over an extended period of time? I am curious at how it works in the long term.

Also, anyone attempted this with children that have any special needs? e.g.; Aspbergers, ADHD, ODD, etc?

I was just looking at this and thinking it might be a great tool for my son with aspergers and ADHD. We have a horrible time getting him to step up and help out around the house. This might be a good tool. Can't be worse than anything else we have tried. :-)

I pinned it on Pinterest! This is such a great idea. You have no idea what you just started!

Wow...nice to see the trolls showed up to rip into someone just trying to do their best in the quagmire that is parenting :) - I don't completely disagree with some of the points. Yes, my opinion is that kids should have regular chores. Yes, I also think parents and kids should work together to solve whatever problems caused the grounding. However, the post isn't a transcript of everything that happened surrounding this idea. And even if she didn't do any of this, that doesn't make her a bad parent or the idea a bad idea. I definitely don't think she's being disrespectful or lazy! We all just do the best we can. I will be using this!

As a fellow blogger, my heart is aching for you reading some of these awful comments! I think it's a great idea! Sometimes it's hard to find the 'right' consequence for different kids and different situations. All we can do as parents is try to figure things out the best we can. I don't think you're a "lazy" mom trying to pawn off your responsibilities or anything crazy like that. I say...You go, Glen Coco! ;)
