This post was inspired by Tina at Mommy's Kitchen . As I checked my Facebook today, she had a post that said she was making Chocolate No Bake Cookies. Well, I LOVE no bake cookies, and so do all of my kids. Although if I told them I was making no bake cookies, they wouldn't know what I was talking about. They call these little delicacies "Gorilla Poop Cookies". I knew that I couldn't make just a single batch with the kids coming home from school soon. My eight year old son can eat a dozen in seconds and top it off with a cold glass of milk.
Anyway, I looked over Tina's recipe. It seems to be a little different than mine. Her recipe calls for 3 Tablespoons of Cocoa Powder, and my recipe calls for 1/2 cup of Cocoa Powder. I'll have to try them both ways. But today, I used my own recipe. I made my kids very happy. Right when they walked in the door from school, they could smell the rich chocolate smell of "Gorilla Poop Cookies". At least I was able to use the cookies as an incentive to get their jobs done quickly.
Chocolate No Bake Cookies
2 cups sugar
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup milk
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup cocoa
1/2 cup peanut butter (crunchy or smooth)
1 teaspoon vanilla
3 cups oats, rolled or quick
In a saucepan, combine and heat sugar, butter, milk, salt, and cocoa. Bring to a rolling boil. Take off heat and stir in peanut butter, vanilla, and oats. Line a cookie sheet with wax paper. Place mixture by teaspoonful on to the wax paper. Refrigerate until firm.
If you've never had No Bake cookies before, give this recipe a try. It won't disappoint you! And it is very easy to make! I hope you enjoy!!!

I am with your son. I could eat a whole dozen of them. I have already had 6 today. My kids were so excited to see them on the counter when they got home. Its hard to resist a recipe when you see someone else making it.
I have been craving these! Do you have any left?! I love 'em. I'll have to try your recipe; the last time I made my recipe, they didn't set up well. I stuck them in the freezer on wax paper, and we ended up eating them straight out of the freezer each time we wanted one. YUM!
I love them as well! We also call them Gorilla Poops... how funny!
I didn't know you could make these with "regular" oatmeal too, I've always thought you had to use the "quick-cooking" oats... will be more than thrilled to try it again!!!
My father used to make these a LOT before he found out he had diabetes - my family could snarf an entire double batch of these when they were younger~ Thank you for posting, and I just snagged your button for my page too! *very big smile*
These look wonderful the way you have made them with the "shiny" glaze to them, but I absolutely love to eat them!!
Thanks for sharing!

Evan and I read this, and I'm getting up to make them right now. I thought the craving for them would dissipate in a couple of days, but I think I still need them! We call them Monkay crap.
My recipe has only 2T cocoa. And def the quick oats. They are so good.
Do these cookies melt easily? Can they be carried around?
