Today we are having our Primary "Meet Your Teacher" Activity. All of the teachers were asked to come up with a "get to know you" activity to do with the children in their class. This is what I came up with to play with my 11 year olds.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I bought a variety of candy bars, and will put them in a brown paper bag. Each child will have a chance to pull out a candy bar. Each candy bar has a question that goes along with it. I will go around and have each child answer every question. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This game can also be played at parties, mutual activities, or anywhere else you would need a "get to know you game". Below you will find a link to a PDF copy.</div>

Our Annual St. Patrick's Day Dinner!<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
We really are that family that gets together and celebrates for EVERY. SINGLE. HOLIDAY, but we always seem to have a blast! This St. Patrick's Day dinner tradition started when my oldest child was a baby. It has grown over the years, and is now one of the favorite traditions.</div>

<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">I found the recipe to this Walter Mitty Clementine Cake on a blog by <a href="http://cathymerenda.com/2013/12/22/walter-mitty-clementine-cake/" target="_blank">Cathy Merenda</a>. In her post she talks about how <span style="background-color: white; line-height: 20px;">one of the through-lines in the film (Walter Mitty) is this cake. At the beginning of the story, Walter’s sister Odessa delivers him one on his birthday. It's his favorite cake made by his mother (the wonderful Shirley McLane). </span></span></div>

<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><span style="background-color: white; line-height: 20px;">I really like this cake because it is gluten free! It is flourless and has whole clementines in it. I also found it super easy to make!</span></span></div>

<li style="border: 0px; font-family: inherit; font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit; margin: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">Preheat the oven to 375ºF. Butter and line an 8 or 9 inch springform pan with parchment.</li>
<li style="border: 0px; font-family: inherit; font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit; margin: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">Poke each clementine 3 or 4 times with a knife. <li style="border: 0px; font-family: inherit; font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit; margin: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">In large bowl beat eggs and sugar until light colored and doubled in volume (about 5 minutes)</li>

So, I thought I would share what I posted.<br />
<br />
The last week or so has been an extremely busy time for me, and my house really shows it! My kids got themselves grounded for being late to school, so I thought I would use it to my advantage. I came up with a clever way to get them ungrounded. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgaUXyabdkx4LsnUkPJ_knBfvu9T3DNNiEIMsAluX4zPu_KjHGj-3jk3n8Zr9WdeSsjYP3AkdUq4lVGNxgEdzbfkE2FZFj_TRXuZuZ72DelnSPY6AZ9_A1QdZ7AL2I1jI7c7XT7V9vM-6I/s1600/2014-04-17+16.27.42.jpg" height="640" width="480" /><a href="https://docs.google.com/document/d/14GWqhk96Kh9IftPzn8y_643JSFs-Wp2dBvAoVadne6w/pub" target="_blank">https://docs.google.com/document/d/14GWqhk96Kh9IftPzn8y_643JSFs-Wp2dBvAoVadne6w/pub</a></div>
<br />
This worked out better than I could have ever imagined! My oldest son got right to work and earned his 500 points in one day. The other two are getting closer and working hard too! We had a nice dinner last night prepared by my son. I found super nice letters on my pillow last night, and my house is looking SO much better! I just never thought that so many other people would like my idea. AMAZING! If you would like to print a copy of this list just click <a href="https://docs.google.com/document/d/14GWqhk96Kh9IftPzn8y_643JSFs-Wp2dBvAoVadne6w/pub" target="_blank">HERE</a>. Hopefully this will work for you like it did for me!Lynettehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14649276259305723679noreply@blogger.com30tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8467733519451962738.post-17456853451910855952014-02-22T09:37:00.000-07:002014-02-22T16:53:19.260-07:00Jodi's Cupcake Wedding Cake<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I haven't done much with wedding cakes in the last couple of years, and it has been especially hard since adapting a Paleo Lifestyle. But..... I had a friend get married yesterday. When I heard that she wanted a "cupcake" cake, I was totally on board. I REALLY LIKE MAKING CUPCAKES!</div>

This was a Triple Chocolate Fudge Cake, topped with a creamy homemade butter cream frosting. The Grandstand was constructed out of Rice Crispy Treats, which was then frosted and topped with M&M's. This cake was definitely the hit of the party!</div>

<span style="text-align: start;">The other night, the Young Women of our Ward put on a fundraiser dinner and dessert auction. I have a daughter who is in Young Women's, so we had the privilege of making some desserts to be auctioned off. We decided to make some sort of Peach cupcakes, and this is what we came up with. It was scary just making something up and expecting it to work, but not only did these work.... they were AMAZING! Upon requests from many people, here is our recipe:</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="text-align: start;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjc9KtN8mdtOU91a1zhkPcRAyxOF_z-j6lTFTuO13tqy8W8d0n-Aqauc3A6NjWLDq_Ho0f_ayxFm_ukBcSfzngDSheGCgnC8aHyUhyX7mXwQuBfSH6wgnm4k8QqrRoS4-IEz2dcS-smVWk/s1600/peachstreuselcupcakes.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjc9KtN8mdtOU91a1zhkPcRAyxOF_z-j6lTFTuO13tqy8W8d0n-Aqauc3A6NjWLDq_Ho0f_ayxFm_ukBcSfzngDSheGCgnC8aHyUhyX7mXwQuBfSH6wgnm4k8QqrRoS4-IEz2dcS-smVWk/s400/peachstreuselcupcakes.jpg" height="400" width="300" /></a></div>

<span style="color: #f6b26b; font-size: large;"><u>Peach Streusel Cupcakes</u></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="color: #f6b26b; font-size: large;"><u><br /></u></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #e69138;">1 Box Betty Crocker White Cake Mix</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #e69138;">1 Large Can of Sliced Peaches(Chopped), with the syrup</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #e69138;">2 Large Eggs</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #e69138;">1/2 teaspoon Cinnamon</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #e69138;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #e69138;">Chop up your peaches until they are as fine as you would like them (I used my Pampered Chef food chopper). Combine the peaches, along with their juices and syrup, with the dry cake mix, eggs, and cinnamon. Mix well, and put in muffin tins (about 2/3 full). </span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #e69138;">Before you bake them, make a streusel topping and spoon it over the cupcake batter.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #e69138;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #e69138;"><u>Streusel Topping</u></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #e69138;">1/2 cup Flour</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #e69138;">1/4 cup brown sugar (packed)</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #e69138;">1/2 stick butter</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #e69138;">1/2 teaspoon Cinnamon</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #e69138;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #e69138;">Combine all ingredients in a bowl using a pastry blender or a fork. When it is mixed well and crumbly, spoon it over the cupcakes. Bake at 350 degrees for 22-25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #e69138;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #e69138;"><u>Glaze</u></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #e69138;">1 Cup Powdered Sugar</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #e69138;">4 teaspoons milk</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #e69138;">1/4 teaspoon Cinnamon</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #e69138;">1/4 teaspoon Peach Flavoring (Optional)</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #e69138;">Stir all ingredients together until mixed well and smooth. Drizzle over the cupcakes when they are still warm.</span></div>

My daughter also wanted to make a Strawberry Rhubarb Pastry to auction off the other night. We made a couple pans, which we auctioned off with a quart of vanilla ice cream. Every once in a while we like to take the kids down to Salt Lake City to visit temple square. It is always fun to see the temple. Our kids get excited to see it and can't wait for the day that they can go inside. We took this beautiful picture on one of our visits a couple of years ago. I wanted to share it with you. </div>

<span style="font-family: Times, Times New Roman, serif;">My son, Ryan, turned 11 years old today. One of his favorite things to do lately is play Skylanders on the Wii. <span style="line-height: 24px;">The real genius of the </span><span style="border: 0px; line-height: 24px; margin: 0px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">Skylanders</span><span style="line-height: 24px;"> games is how it blends the fun of toys and video games into one experience. Ryan can collect the Skylander figures, put them on his portal of power, and then that character is introduced into the game on the TV. This provides hours of entertainment for my boys. The biggest bonus for me is that I can get my boys to do anything (Hey Ryan, if you do 10 loads of laundry I will buy you a Skylander)! If you are interested in Skylanders for your kids, you can purchase the game Here...</span></span><br />

Last night we had a fun Halloween Dinner Party at my Mom's house. Almost everyone in the family was able to make it. We sure did miss those that couldn't come. This wasn't the healthiest of dinners, but it will definitely go down in the books as one of the most fun and creative dinners.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgzxp-ki5UgCajE4ytjX4DBZftJM8WvzmcP-bxtgRrO-_3ah7_Uwjz1CnkXSvdzqKorQu6Bqw_0blkjSUgYGN69YLAHduKGs5fb6b8gqj3mRLsNj-DgxqX6oLQXI8TDFtGxHq3KnO0Dejw/s1600/dinnercombined.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgzxp-ki5UgCajE4ytjX4DBZftJM8WvzmcP-bxtgRrO-_3ah7_Uwjz1CnkXSvdzqKorQu6Bqw_0blkjSUgYGN69YLAHduKGs5fb6b8gqj3mRLsNj-DgxqX6oLQXI8TDFtGxHq3KnO0Dejw/s320/dinnercombined.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
We started off with some "Chucky's Upchuck" (Creamy Vegetable Soup).</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhb6kaVvtcJi2qY9SlTnZP3y0pFxUHseihnem-V0-TGLtfdM8-q_IyGFvFqgOv3MH1Q8y1xnj-gaqXdCF7kuU_HfnOlk2T7tTMnkSEacJy0ooEbmiVtb6CK5lUU6u_4eP06gTrxA__swqk/s1600/Chucky's+Upchuck.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhb6kaVvtcJi2qY9SlTnZP3y0pFxUHseihnem-V0-TGLtfdM8-q_IyGFvFqgOv3MH1Q8y1xnj-gaqXdCF7kuU_HfnOlk2T7tTMnkSEacJy0ooEbmiVtb6CK5lUU6u_4eP06gTrxA__swqk/s320/Chucky's+Upchuck.JPG" width="213" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
We enjoyed eating "Egor's Eyeballs" (Deviled Eggs dyed green with an olive and pimento). </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhwRJ8840W5iE2rW7_zaNT342nekHX0G8q1uwTHjCb41BGt3QCbcv7jHTh0H24fB5Lap7NTO7cMxm8gWpfNsgEAOUV5MCe_EOc_TmwCIayVVsXGmGP1d1bbN5MMtv8ndbZGnAi7SwnCcOQ/s1600/eyeballs.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhwRJ8840W5iE2rW7_zaNT342nekHX0G8q1uwTHjCb41BGt3QCbcv7jHTh0H24fB5Lap7NTO7cMxm8gWpfNsgEAOUV5MCe_EOc_TmwCIayVVsXGmGP1d1bbN5MMtv8ndbZGnAi7SwnCcOQ/s320/eyeballs.JPG" width="213" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
The "Severed Fingers" were divine (Egg Rolls)!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh-S7u8UvwqN3e6A31j2kI4iDgGJlTH6wsamweafC2ne75paxqFEWBK7fCMBfQQQ5tO5I8dGJ60VybOXhOjlgmeI2eTv5ebGNDGOOaegnPZWVOTUaY2fz8Pr8224nBGWMzgsYW0xbVYaks/s1600/fingers.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh-S7u8UvwqN3e6A31j2kI4iDgGJlTH6wsamweafC2ne75paxqFEWBK7fCMBfQQQ5tO5I8dGJ60VybOXhOjlgmeI2eTv5ebGNDGOOaegnPZWVOTUaY2fz8Pr8224nBGWMzgsYW0xbVYaks/s320/fingers.JPG" width="213" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
One of my favorites was the "Gizzards in Wizard's Blood" </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

A Back To School Treat<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I was looking for something fun to give my Young Women (I have the Mia Maids) as a back to school gift. Of course, the first place I always look is Pinterest. I came across these cute pencils, made with a pack of Rolos and a Hershey's Kiss. Cute, huh? They were so easy to make!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Of course, I must give credit where credit it due. I found them on a website called <a href="http://simplycreativeinsanity.blogspot.com/2011/07/back-to-school.html" target="_blank">Simply Creative Insanity</a>. This blogger has a handful of fun back to school tips. She has step by step instructions on how to make these cute pencils. She also has tips on taking creative "back to school" pictures.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
You'll have to go check it out. </div>

While cupcakes are baking make the frosting.</span><br style="background-color: white; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 18.200000762939453px;" /><br style="background-color: white; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 18.200000762939453px;" /><span style="background-color: white; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 18.200000762939453px;">Cream together butter and cream cheese. Add vanilla, then add powdered sugar slowly until blended well. Chop remaining regular-sized Oreos very fine (I put the cookies in the food processor instead of trying to chop them up super fine and it worked out really well). Add to frosting. After cupcakes have cooled frost and decorate with Mini Oreos.</span></span>

What do you get a 5-year old who loves Phineas and Ferb? My little Adam turned 5 yesterday, so we decided (at the last minute) to throw him a "Where's Perry" birthday party.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
He was thrilled to get some new PEZ dispensers!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
He also got the Perry Files...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
And, he got many other gifts that he absolutely LOVES! In fact, he woke me up about 3 times in the night asking when it was going to be morning so he could play with his birthday presents.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
His 12-year old sister made him an ADORABLE banner! I knew if anybody could pull off a cute "Perry" poster, Erin could do it.</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
We also made him a "Perry The Platypus" Cake!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
The base cake was a 14-inch round chocolate cake with a chocolate fudge frosting. Perry was also made out of chocolate cake. The cake was definitely the "hit" of the party!</div>

<b>I found a recipe today from <a href="http://www.tasteofhome.com/Recipes/Spiced-Cake-Doughnuts">Taste of Home</a> to make Spiced Cake Doughnuts. Having never made doughnuts before, I was really excited to make these. The kids and I got right to work.</b><br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<u><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #660000; font-size: large;"><b>Spiced Cake Doughnuts</b></span></u></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #660000;">Ingredients:</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
1/4 Cup Shortening</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
1 Cup Sugar</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
3 Eggs</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
5 Cups All-purpose Flour</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
3 teaspoons Baking Powder</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
2 teaspoons Salt</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
1 teaspoon baking soda</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
1 teaspoon ground Cinnamon</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
1 teaspoon ground Nutmeg</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
1/4 teaspoon ground mace</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
1/2 cup Buttermilk</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
1 Cup Grated Peeled Apples</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Oil for deep-fat frying</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #660000;">Browned Butter Frosting:</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
1/2 Cup Packed Brown Sugar</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
3 Tablespoons Butter</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
1/4 Cup Heavy Whipping Cream</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
1-3/4 Cups Confectioners' Sugar</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Colored Sprinkles</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #660000;">Directions:</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
In a large bowl, cream shortening and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Combine the flour, baking powder, salt, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg and mace; add to creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk, beating well after each addition. Fold in apples. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
On a lightly floured surface, roll dough to 1/2-in. thickness. Cut with a floured 2-1/2 inch doughnut cutter. In an electric skillet or deep-fat fryer, heat oil to 375 degrees. Fry doughnuts, a few at a time, until golden brown on both sides. Drain on paper towels.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
In a small saucepan, bring brown sugar and butter to a boil. Cook and stir for 1 minute or until lightly thickened. Pour into a small bowl; let stand for 10 minutes. Add cream; beat until smooth. Gradually add confectioners' sugar, 1/4 cup at a time, beating well after each addition until frosting achieves desired consistency. Frost doughnuts; top with sprinkles. Yield: 22 doughnuts.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<b>These doughnuts were a big hit at my house! For me, the frosting was the best part. What a great Fall treat!</b></div>

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Today we went to a party at my mom's house, and I was asked to take something to eat with a Fall/Halloween theme. This is what I came up with.....</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #b45f06; font-size: x-large;"><b>Pumpkin Shaped Chicken Rolls!</b></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjllcOXXZnWs0wDzDsrCRs7XzTiro0L0l6uHpLHpe08O411ppFzZy6GHUPfBAHGGSL1wryW4ORuocM0srNBR4PQk5u2-ibtsGg8NJCnwUF78K2hUaHPBLAO1ppJgdydlUvJPyczaIHIn9s/s1600/Pumpkin+Shaped+Chicken+Rolls.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjllcOXXZnWs0wDzDsrCRs7XzTiro0L0l6uHpLHpe08O411ppFzZy6GHUPfBAHGGSL1wryW4ORuocM0srNBR4PQk5u2-ibtsGg8NJCnwUF78K2hUaHPBLAO1ppJgdydlUvJPyczaIHIn9s/s400/Pumpkin+Shaped+Chicken+Rolls.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Aren't they cute? And they were delicious too. This is how I made them....</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I started out by making my favorite roll recipe, and adding orange food coloring.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #660000; font-size: large;"><u><br /></u></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #660000; font-size: large;"><u>NEVER FAIL ROLLS</u></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
4 1/2 Cups flour</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
1/2 Cup Sugar</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
1/4 Cup Warm Water</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
1/2 Cup melted Butter</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
1 Cup warm water</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
2 Yeast Cakes (2 Tbsp.)</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
1 tsp. Salt</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
3 Well Beaten Eggs</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Add yeast to 1/4 cup warm water and stir until dissolved. Add beaten eggs, sugar, 1 cup water, salt, and melted butter. Mix well. Stir in flour making a soft dough (will be slightly sticky). Cover and let rise to double in bulk. Punch down and place covered in refrigerator. Will keep 48 hours in the fridge. Roll out into rolls and let rise one hour before baking at 400 degrees for 10 - 15 minutes.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I rolled my dough out onto a floured surface, and cut out cute little circles.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYFXPXkSwoQIsmABrF-wT3CChBlTohXjyAb8ZQAYtI8RJtmrDYD0pk9tvZxFeBZOBADseIaWkZrk50ADEiosYYviVi5DeXorMmn3C3NVRBPUQGWTl69O6PkoyMYBrelbj8M2xSDA0aybI/s1600/chicken+roll+circles.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="312" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYFXPXkSwoQIsmABrF-wT3CChBlTohXjyAb8ZQAYtI8RJtmrDYD0pk9tvZxFeBZOBADseIaWkZrk50ADEiosYYviVi5DeXorMmn3C3NVRBPUQGWTl69O6PkoyMYBrelbj8M2xSDA0aybI/s320/chicken+roll+circles.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Then I scooped Chicken Filling onto the center of each one.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: left;">
2 Cups cooked cut-up boneless chicken</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
3 ounces cream cheese</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
2 Tablespoons Melted Butter</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
1 Tablespoon Chopped Chives or Onion</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
2-3 Tablespoons Milk</div>

<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
After scooping the chicken filling on all of the circles, I folded them up into balls. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: x-small;">***Make sure you pinch the seams tight, and put the seams face down on the pan.***</span></div>

Do you remember a couple of years ago when I posted about a <a href="http://lynettesnewhobby.blogspot.com/2009/09/ashleys-cupcake-decorating-birthday.html">Cupcake Decorating Birthday</a> party? Well, we did it again! Ashley had another AWESOME birthday. She was able to share it with so many of her good friends. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgZmVjPhEBvH5JjFd1hWC3ewXNQ-8JhNsF1y0RAEy_aqpT7ups5z8XNpSxAcqmoWfa8lQuanJ6o_OQARW3a_I_ifYcrs3riwppoDfqGdLRPfntpJoMvO7L5ZC81b6B0NbBw7UxTUPsRaoE/s1600/P1040952.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgZmVjPhEBvH5JjFd1hWC3ewXNQ-8JhNsF1y0RAEy_aqpT7ups5z8XNpSxAcqmoWfa8lQuanJ6o_OQARW3a_I_ifYcrs3riwppoDfqGdLRPfntpJoMvO7L5ZC81b6B0NbBw7UxTUPsRaoE/s400/P1040952.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
At this party, the kids were able to use their creativity to decorate cupcakes and cookies. They had so many options to choose from! Pink, white, or chocolate cupcakes and sugar cookies (some regular, and some gluten free). Chocolate or white frosting. And oodles of candy to top them with. All of the creations were unique and delicious!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipGk0Z3suAGzUqPZpEs5h1ASThigjFtNT1F_Jc4NDdxg9UoHz7bwv9Cq5IyEdQ-NXTBZZBU4OUw0zhaFquYWR245mJhTrLgb8bJWgV4H-sQb7_4sxvLDQXcCWDUOAkx7YGmiVCPvBQnGs/s1600/P1040939.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipGk0Z3suAGzUqPZpEs5h1ASThigjFtNT1F_Jc4NDdxg9UoHz7bwv9Cq5IyEdQ-NXTBZZBU4OUw0zhaFquYWR245mJhTrLgb8bJWgV4H-sQb7_4sxvLDQXcCWDUOAkx7YGmiVCPvBQnGs/s320/P1040939.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The highlight of the party was Melissa from <a href="http://thepaintedotter.com/">THE PAINTED OTTER</a>!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /><a href="http://thepaintedotter.com/"><img border="0" height="113" src="http://thepaintedotter.files.wordpress.com/2011/09/cropped-newheader.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Melissa is a super talented artist who just started her own face painting business. I can't even put in to words how amazing her work is. Not only does she paint well, she is really good with kids. All of these little girls were so excited to get their faces painted.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">My friend's son had an assignment for school where he was required to make a 3d animal cell model. It had to have all of the cell parts, such as the Nucleus, Nuclear Membrane, Mitochondrion, Golgi Bodies, etc. He was told that he could make the model out of anything as long as it wasn't something that could get smelly in a couple of days. Since one of his favorite shows is "Cake Boss", he decided he wanted to make it out of Rice cereal and fondant. He came over tonight so that I could teach him how to work with fondant. Today I made 6 dozen cupcakes. They were for a Young Women New Beginnings. I thought they turned out great. They were frosted with about 5 different shades of pink frosting. And.....they were DELICIOUS, if I do say so myself! I experimented with the frosting and made it using butter, heavy whipping cream, milk, vanilla, and powdered sugar. I really think it was the best tasting frosting I have ever made.<br />

I have been a room mother many times in my kids classrooms. Our school has a rule that you have to take treats that are store-bought. Well, I recently learned that if you have a Food Handler's Permit you can make treats at home. It's amazing that I just barely figured this out. <br />
<br />
Anyway, I am the proud owner of a Food Handler's Permit. So, to celebrate Ryan's birthday I made cake pops for his class. Cake pops are some of my favorite treats to make. I didn't get too fancy with them, but I think the 8 and 9 year old kids in his class will LOVE them.<br />
<br />

I follow it by email, and look forward to each new post. And it really is one of my favorites. She is right up there with Pioneer Woman and Bakerella. Well, not too long ago, Tina at <a href="http://www.mommyskitchen.net/">Mommy's Kitchen</a> did a post on <a href="http://www.mommyskitchen.net/2011/01/sour-cream-cherry-coffee-cake.html">Sour Cream & Cherry Coffee Cake</a>. Her post and pictures were AMAZING........enough to make anyone want to try it. Doesn't it sound heavenly? I had to give it a try because not only did it look delicious, but it looked simple to make. I like anything simple. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">It only takes a few ingredients....</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />

</strong></div><div align="left"><strong>Sour Cream & Cherry Coffee Cake<br />
</strong>1 - 18 oz package white cake mix (I used a yellow mix, because that is what I had on hand)<br />
1 - 8 oz container sour cream<br />
3 - eggs<br />
1/4 - cup water<br />
1 - can cherry pie filling<br />
1/4 - cup sliced almonds, optional<br />

Preheat oven to 350. Lightly grease a jelly-roll pan or 9 x 13 inch baking pan. Mix together the sour cream, eggs and water. Combine with the cake mix. Spread mixture into a greased baking dish and drop the pie filling over the batter in spoonfuls.</div><div align="left"></div><div align="left"><br />
Make sure to swirl the pie filling throughout the batter. If not <span class="fullpost" style="display: inline;"></span>the pie filling will settle in the middle.Bake for 30-40 minutes or until lightly browned and cooked through. Test with toothpick for doneness. Cool in pan and drizzle with a simple icing if desired.<br />

And I'm not the one addicted.</b></span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #660000;">My daughter just finished her Science Fair Project, and she did it on the accuracy of measuring when making bread. She had several people scoop a cup of flour. She determined that even though the same measuring cup was used, the amount was not always the same (due to packing or not packing, leveling or not leveling). </span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #660000;">Give or take about 6%.</span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #660000;"><br />

</span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #660000;">She ended up making 3 batches of bread. But instead of measuring the flour with a cup, she weighed it in grams. Her first batch had the right amount of flour. Her second batch had 6% too little flour. And her third batch had 6% too much flour. </span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #660000;"><br />

</span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #660000;">Next she had people taste the bread to determine if they could tell which one had the right amount of flour. The tasters liked all three, but the one with the exact amount of flour won the game. Good job Erin for a project well done!</span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #660000;"><br />
</span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #660000;">My husband has really taken a liking to Erin's bread. So, as you can see, he is the addicted one......and it is WONDERFUL! </span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #660000;"><br />

</span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #660000;">My house smells so good. Simplicity is the key. This bread recipe is very easy to make, and it tastes great. </span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #660000;">The crust is nice and crunchy, and the inside is so soft that it melts in your mouth. </span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #660000;">Did you know it only has 4 ingredients? Yeah, I was surprised too. Here is the recipe.....</span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #660000;"><br />
</span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><b>1000 grams bread flour</b></div><div style="text-align: left;"><b>20 grams salt</b></div><div style="text-align: left;"><b>14 grams dry activated Yeast</b></div><div style="text-align: left;"><b>600 grams of water</b></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #660000;"><b><br />
</b></span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><b>That's it! That's all you need. Now, grab a bowl and get ready to make this wonderful bread. </b></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #660000;"><b><br />
</b></span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #660000;"><b><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #555555; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; font-weight: normal; line-height: 21px;"><b>1. </b>Place all of the dry ingredients in a large bowl and give them a dry mix with a spoon.<br />
<br />
<b>2. </b>Make a well in the center and pour in the water.<br />
<br />
<b>3. </b>Gradually stir the flour into the water until it is all incorporated. Flour can vary or even humidity can make a difference so you might find you need to add a little more flour or water to produce a workable dough. You don't want it too sticky or to tough to work with.<br />
<br />
<b>4. </b>It's time to get your hands dirty. Turn your dough out onto a floured surface. A board or even just your table top is fine. Start kneading the dough. Feel free to stretch, pull or punch the dough in all directions. Then roll it back up and stretch, pull or punch again. Any technique you choose will be fine, just keep working the dough for about 10 minutes until it is even in texture. Now roll the dough into a ball and place it into a lightly greased container that can be covered. You can use your mixing bowl if it has enough room for the dough to double in size, or use a large plastic container or even a bucket. Cover with a lid, plastic wrap or a damp towel.</span></b></span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #660000;"><b><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #555555; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; font-weight: normal; line-height: 21px;"><br />

This will take about 1 hour. Don't worry if you can't find a spot warm enough, it will still rise but it will just take a little longer.<br />
<br />
<b>6. </b>Once your dough has doubled, punch it down and take it out of the container. Now divide it into 2 even portions. Press the pieces out flat and then roll into loaf shapes.</span></b></span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #660000;"><b><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #555555; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; font-weight: normal; line-height: 21px;"><br />

Plastic wrap or a damp towel will be fine. Sit in a warm place and allow the dough to rise until it reaches </span>the top <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #555555;">of the tin. While the dough is rising, preheat your oven to 230 C (450 F)</span><br />
<br />
<b style="color: #555555;">8. </b><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #555555;">Once the dough has reached the top of the tin remove the cover and place in your pre-heated oven for 30-40 minutes. You can check if it is baked by knocking on the crust and listening for a hollow sound.</span><br />

<b style="color: #555555;">9. </b><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #555555;">Remove from tins and allow to cool on a </span>wire<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #555555;"> rack.</span></span></b></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #660000;"><br />

<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">I have received many emails and messages asking for the recipe to these delightful treats. I made them using a chocolate cake mix, but what makes them extra special is the candy cane filling and the Chocolate Peppermint frosting. So, I hope you give them a try. They really are DELICIOUS!</span><br />
